We needed to modify our agenda (isn't old age interesting) and "NO PROBLEM, one phone call and a request and it happened". WOW!! The folks in Egypt were great!!. What an incredible place to visit. After the valley of the Kings, we were again ready for an "Easier" thing. Talked to the tour guide and we went to see some beautiful ruins with much less climbing. Then in Jordan, we wanted to see the "Kings Highway" and visit the Dead Sea. Again "No Problem". the guide placed a couple of calls and we got to see the Kings Highway with the Grand Canyon of Jordan (WOW!!), Mt Nebo, The Dead Sea (Linda tried to swim in it) and returned to Ammon to the nicest room of the tour. He met us at the airport and from that moment on he took care of every detail. It was like being guided through Egypt by your favorite professor. The Mena House Hotel, The Sofitel, and the Royal Lily were absolutely 5 star accommodations! The staff at all three places were remarkable. The customer service was the best we had ever encountered in any other country! The entire vacation was truly an amazing experience. The only suggestion we might have would be in the quality of the shopping. We would have loved to have been taken to local artisan shops for art or furniture. But sadly we were only exposed to tourist type markets for statues and trinkets for souvenirs that were obviously extremely overpriced. After days of shopping and touring and visiting markets independently it became painfully clear that the stores we were taken to on our tours had taken advantage of us as tourists by charging obscene amounts of money for items we later found for outrageously less prices, especially the gold and perfume bottles. Central America & Mexico - "We have returned home after our wonderful, exciting tour of Costa Rica, and I wanted to send you this e-mail to let you know just how much we enjoyed the tour. Right from day one, we were impressed with how efficient Kensington Tours was when our driver showed up at our hotel in San Jose one hour early! When we arrived at our hotel in Arenal, the owner greeted us and said that Wave had called ahead and told him we would be there about noon. In fact, all of the drivers seemed to be in contact with Wave during the drives, giving updates as to their location. All of the drivers spoke at least a little English, and many had good English, and they were all pleasant. The hotels were very nice. We thouroughly enjoyed La Mansion Inn in Arenal. It was "our kind of place" with the individual cabins and pastoral view of the lake. And everyone there was so nice; great breakfast too. Si Como No was a great alternative to La Mansion in Manuel Antonio (which was booked). The pools and hot tub were enjoyable, and what a wonderful view. We walked down to see La Mansion in Manuel Antonio and we understood why you tried to book us there first; it was very elegant, but not as large of a property as Si Como No, although from La Mansion we could have walked to the beach. We had three wonderful guides that I highly recommend. Alvaro Enrique Molina Morera guided us on the Arenal Volcano tour. It was a wonderful tour and he was superb. On the drive to the volcano, he spotted howler monkeys in the trees and set up his telescope for us to have a close-up view. He took some excellent photos of the monkeys for me using his telescope. He taught us so much about the volcano, and the night views of the erruptions through his telescope were spectacular. I also liked the fact that he was very considerate with our safety while climbing the rocky trail, but he did so in a way that wasn't overly obvious. Mauricio Fuentes was our guide for the night walk in Monteverde. He showed us some amazing wildlife, including a taurantula, sleaping rare birds, bizzare insects. We really enjoyed him and this tour. Federico Chinchilla was the most knowledgeable about biology. He guided us on our half day Cloud Forest walk, and he was outstanding. Because of him we saw the rare quetzal and many other fabulous birds. He recognized the birds from their calls, and was able to mimic them and then find them for us. After the tour he drove us into the town and showed us the post office, restaurants, and a little grocery store before taking us back to the lodge. We highly recommend him. We also enjoyed the Cano Negro tour and the Tabacon hot springs were nice, but we would have preferred to go to the springs during daylight in order to see the gardens. For seniors, I suggest doing this tour during the daytime. All in all we truely had a wonderful trip, Michael, and I am so pleased with having made all of the arrangement through you and Kensington Tours. Egypt & Morocco - "We have traveled the world quite a bit and this is the first time that we thought of using a tour company. We wanted to travel thru Egypt and Jordan and had a tight time line. I usually book all our travel and accommodations and I was trying to book some flights to Jordan from Luxor and was having trouble as I did not know all the airlines in the region. Google to the rescue. This was where I learned of Kensington Tours. Google had a hit on there web site. They had a tour package set up already so I checked it out on the website, unfortunately the dates didn't work out for us. So I figured what the heck and sent an email telling when we would be in Cairo and when we are departing and what we wanted to see please provide a itinerary and quote. I also requested that we wanted exclusive tours and nice accommodations. Not expecting much I was surprised when I received an email the next morning from Kensington giving an itinerary that hit the nail on the head. 5+ star accommodations and it hit all the places we wanted to see and a few more. It also included private transportation and exclusive tour guides for just me and the wife (Egyptologists at that and they traveled with you). I was also pleased with the price. After much debate amongst me and my wife...a bit of Rum was involved we said "What the heck! Let's give these guys a try!" So we paid for the tour. For all that money I received a code that had my itinerary on the web site...so I printed it. Two pieces of paper that was all we had for that money. So we waited for the big day to arrive. I was expecting a bunch of paperwork or something as I am used to booking our own stuff and usually have a bunch of paper with reservation confirmations etc. Nothing....so not being used to this and it only being a week to go, I called Kensington to touch base and make sure all was well. The very polite and friendly staff told me not to worry...leave that to them...just print out that itinerary and take it with you that's it....two pages. I think I must have asked about ten times "Are you sure..that's all I need?" So that is what I did. The big day arrived....off we went and after a while we arrived in Cairo. Not sure what to expect.... In one word......"WOW" were we impressed. They had someone on the arrival side of customs greet us and do all the visas right there then and whisked us thru the hordes of people. We were out of the airport in 10 minutes in a Mercedes weaving thru the Cairo traffic to the Four Seasons Hotel! That set the tone for the whole trip. It was amazing. It was like seeing Egypt and Jordan from a big Pillow being carried around. At all times we were catered to and could change anything on the fly if we so choose. The guides and agents were amazing and we are still keeping in touch with some pf them as we made great friendships over there. And yes I only needed those two pieces of paper. Egypt and Jordan will take your breath away. Pyramids, Camels, The Nile, Temples, Wadi Rum, Petra....we saw a ton of amazing stuff. Egypt & Morocco - "I cannot express how wonderful was our trip to Egypt this past week and a half (January 2008). The attention to detail was unbelievable and the availability of all of the representatives throughout Egypt and Canada was fantastic beginning with the snafu we experienced upon our arrival at JFK. My dad left his baggie with his prescription eye drops at the Minneapolis airport and did not realize it until we were at JFK in NYC. I called Kensington tours who immediately contacted your Egyptian contacts to let them know what had occurred. The concierge at the Mena House hotel was able to call a pharmacy and give them the name of the eye drops and within 30 minutes my father had his medication in hand. I call that fantastic!! My father also needed an antibiotic along the way and with I think he went with his guide Mahmoud to a pharmacy, explained what his ailment was and they were able to give him the appropriate antibiotic. The accommodations in Cairo - the Mena House upon arrival and Sofitel prior to departure were just fabulous! Mr. Mohamed made sure that all of our needs were met and was able to arrange the tour schedule to reduce the stress on my 82 year old father. Lamiaa was able to arrange my tour so that we went to the sites in the opposite order of the big groups and that way we had smaller crowds. We went to the Egyptian Museum when the tour groups were having lunch so that the treasures were not surrounded by huge crowds. By the time we left the crowds had massed. It was perfect timing! Mr. Mohamed was able to usher us through the crowds so that we didn't have a prolonged wait in line at the airport. The entire experience was fantastic. All of the people we met were welcoming and gracious. I had such a fabulous time and hope to return some day with my husband who, after seeing the photographs, realizes he should have come along! My husband, myself and our two children, ages 10 and 13 took an 8 day safari in Tanzania. We went to Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti. We were afraid March would be rainy, but every day was beautiful, the wildebeast all had babies and were migrating to the Serengeti, and the animal viewing was awesome. We counted 23 lions and 6 cheetah, to name a few! Before leaving on the trip, I was a little aprehensive, feeling like we were placing a lot of faith in Kensington Tours to have a good guide set up, good vehicle, and good hotels.
